Mechanical filtration is a very important link in the operation of a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) or RAS (the traditional name for aquaculture systems from the Soviet past).

Mechanical filters are designed to effectively and quickly remove contaminants from water (feces, food residues, biofilm, etc.). This is done in order to prevent their possible decomposition in a favorable environment (water, heat, oxygen or its absence).

The decomposition of organic residues in water in the presence of oxygen leads to a significant use of valuable dissolved oxygen and creates additional load (and costs) on the system.

Without the presence of oxygen, anaerobic processes take place, which lead to the formation of gases (hydrogen sulfide, methane, etc.) that are toxic to our aquatic organisms.

Conclusion: the faster and more efficient the process of removing organic residues, the better conditions are created for growing our fish.

One of the most effective mechanical filters currently are drum filters. The principle of operation of a drum filter is very simple: contaminated water passes through a drum on which a mesh with a certain mesh size is stretched. After the mesh is clogged, the water level in the chamber behind the drum decreases. Sensors are installed there that send a signal to the controller. The controller  supplies power to the pump for washing the mesh, as well as to the gearbox, which turns the drum. The design of a drum filter is not very complicated, but there are certain nuances that determine the performance of the system.

On the Ukrainian market you can find several types of different drum filters that we produce. The price of these products may vary significantly due to cheaper materials, spare parts, design, and execution. 1. The use of thick German-made structural plastic, which rigidly holds its shape, does not come apart and can cope with significant loads. All parts are cut on a high-precision CNC milling machine. The parts are welded together using a special technology, which allows you to make a neat and durable seam.
2. We use a special professional gearbox (Taiwan) with a power of only 40 W, which makes exactly 3 revolutions per minute. This speed is important for the proper operation of the mesh cleaning mechanism.
3. We use a special controller (made in Italy), which allows you to adjust the time and length of mesh cleaning, which results in greater savings in water use and more efficient use of the main mechanisms of the drum.
4. The shaft diameter is 18 mm, which allows the drum to withstand enormous loads and extends the service life of the device to 10 years.
5. The filtration panel is made of special soft plastic, which serves as a damper when it is washed with water under pressure, and extends its service life. Plus a convenient fastening system that allows you to very quickly replace this panel with a new one.
6. A rust-free tray (special design) for draining dirty water allows you to effectively and quickly remove this water for further processing. The diameter of the drain hole is 108 mm.

All these developments undoubtedly increase the cost of manufacturing our products. But if you calculate the service life of this product (more than 10 years) and compare it with similar domestic models, then using our products turns out to be 50% cheaper.
