Lakedra (lat. Seriola lalandi) is a marine thermophilic predatory fish that belongs to the horse mackerel family. Lakedra is caught in Korea, the Primorsky Krai, Sakhalin, but the fish is most widespread in Japan. Sushi and sashimi are made from it here. Lacedra is also called yellowtail or yellowtail kingfish (yellowtail kingfish, amberjack).

The fish is distinguished by the gray-blue color of the scales, a brown stripe on torso The body of the yellowtail is elongated, oval in shape, slightly compressed from the sides. The color of the back is gray-blue, the sides and belly are dirty-white. Abdominal and anal fins are yellowish. A narrow brown stripe runs from the muzzle through the eye to the tail stem. There are no shields in the lateral line. There is one leathery keel on each side of the tail stem. The head of the yellowtail is conical, slightly pointed. The mouth of the fish is large, oblique. The first dorsal fin has five short spiny rays connected by a membrane. The second dorsal and anal fins are long. They consist of soft rays. Two spiny rays in front of the anal fin in adult fish are overgrown with skin.

On average, one lakedra weighs about 1 kilogram, although there were cases when fish weighing up to 10 kilograms and about a meter in length were caught. Yellowtail is a valuable commercial fish. In Japan, it is an object of aquaculture, artificial cultivation in specially fenced marine areas. The Japanese use the fish for sushi, sashimi and canning.
It is a valuable object for sport fishing. Lacedra is a trophy fish.
Can we grow lacedra in the RAS?
This type of fish began to be actively grown in recirculating aquaculture systems in the European Union. Since Japanese cuisine is now extremely popular, lacedra is in high demand among European consumers.

What conditions are ideal for growing lacedra? Water temperature – 26-27C, pH – 8, salinity – 14 ppt. To remove nitrates, the RAS is additionally equipped with denitrification units.
In 9 months of cultivation, from a fry weighing 0.5 grams, the lakeder in RAS conditions grows to 2.5 kg. The feed factor is 1.3.
Economics
Fry and feed must be imported from Europe. In the Netherlands, yellowtails are successfully bred and get young. The fodder used for growing turbot (a type of flounder) is perfect for growing lacedra. Lacedra weighing more than 1 kg can be fed with cheap sea fish.

The cost of lacedra grown in ASD conditions is about 9-10 Euros. The cost of a 100-ton plant will be 600-650 thousand Euros.
Lakedra fillet (deep-frozen) costs around 900-1000 UAH per kg, carcass – 540 UAH per kg.
It is best to build such a plant in a place where there is access to sea water. The waters of our Black Sea are perfect for growing lacedra. In the summer it is possible to grow lacedra in gardens.
